Transparency issue

by tODD k. · in Torque Game Engine · 02/22/2006 (10:58 am) · 2 replies

I've created my transparent material as a .png (as suggested in another thread) rather than using a seperate alpha file and also created a 2-sided material with Maya2DTS. Here is my result in ShowTool.

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? Thanks!

It looks like you have applied an alpha to the entire texture image, making the whole thing slightly transparent. I'm assuming that you only wanted the "edges" of the hair transparent? I think you need to look at your image file and make sure this isn't the case. To get just the "edges" of your hair transparent, you need to only apply the alpha to areas you wish to make transparent, not the whole thing.

It looks like that would be the problem, but I double checked the alpha and everything looks correct. Here's what it looks like in the maya viewport:

Also, I noticed in ShowTool that a 'translucent' flag appears in the materials window but I can't view the file. Is that normal?
