Master Server Basics

Hi there,

Scuse the simple question, but i need some simple help i guess. I have starter.fps with a few alterations, wrapped in an installer, sent to one of my friends to test out online play, and it comes up with 'Master Server Not Found'. After searching a few articles, it seems that there is something to do with Garage Games Master Server pinging to find other games exactly like mine or something. I'm just wondering why its not connecting? Is there something i haven't done? How do i get it too work? Thanks in advance!

Matt,

Just a guess, but maybe your firewall or other network admin/security tools are blocking the connection. If you and your friend both have active internet connections, then the Garage Games server seek should be automatic.

Try looking in your console log file and see what error message info you get on this. And try pinging the Garage Games master server address/port from the your DOS command prompt to see if you get anything.

I hope that helps,

Thanks Aaron,

Wierd though, we tried it again yesterday evening, and it worked, but instead of 'No Master Servers found' it said 'No Games Found'. What could we do?

Matt,

What happens when you try a fresh, unmodified version of starter.fps? Maybe that will help us figure out what's going on.
