Abandoned building

I've been working on a "slum" type setting for a game and was wondering if the GG community could use buildings like this.

Thanks!

Reminds me of "Welcome to Joe's appartment..." other than that, looks good, what game is it that you are working on?

Thanks Markus. The name of the game is Tribulation Earth, a futuristic fps. The slum setting was for one of the Earth bound maps.

If I were you, I'd darken those bricks a little. That feels to me like it'd work a little better.

Yeah, your right Brian. It is a bit bright isn't it.

It might not be so bad Brian "Cybore" if you lighten up the concrete. I'd suggest moving away from grey and warm it up a bit - moving to an ochre colour might be interesting given the brick colour and shade. It's the contrast that makes the brick look so pale :)

Just a thought...

Excellent advice James, thanks. I kept the brick the same and changed the color on the concrete to more match the color of the mortar. I think it looks alot better already. It still needs a touch up here and there, but the color change helped wonders. Thanks!

I think after some lighting effects are applied it will blend better.

What a difference in the change of texture and color. The belt or molding and base looks authentic. Also the remodeling in creating a chamfer shape of the base is now comtemporary with the rest of the structure.

I think it needs more dirt stains and such. So that it really looks like a building that could fit into the slums of a big city.

I did not feel it was a building in the slums - why? The general style of architecture with the crown molding at top - looks more like an older historical- like building that may need renovation. In my opinion, if you drop the lavish molding, it would look more like a distressed building as you desired.

Its a pretty good start so far, but i would add some debrit to the moldings of the building. make some of the bricks different shades (to make it look like bricks were replaced over the years but not enough money to get them painted the right shade), and A LOT more vandalism.

keep it up!

btw... i suggest u add some roundess to the the building too. its a bit too flat. make some bricks stick out a bit to add some realism. dont be affraid to add polygons!! we are not in 1995 anymore. computers can render a lot more than u think. the idea is to make ur objects as reusable as possible. that way u can combine them together in the world editor to make new ones.

I could use an abandoned building :)
