Ok, I just downloaded the 1.4 demo, I'm thinking about getting the 1.2 book
Should I ?
I now want to script a killer game (the best I can do) with the demo so where are the instructions ?
Someone before told me to look on this site for the demo scripting instructions.
But There are two many documents and I can't find them.
What do I do ?
Should I just buy the book ?
Or should I just spend $100.00 first.
Or are there any scripting instructions for the 1.4 demo anywhere here ?
I'm afraid I will spend the rest of my life trying to find the documents, please help me.
Thanks,

Buy the book. youll still need to find more documentation but it'll save you loads of time and has great reference and tutorial content.

I have wanted this book for soooo long and then when I finally got around to buying it I found that Amazon.co.uk only carries the second edition and not the first. The second edition is so full of mistakes where you can clearly see he was in too much of a rush to get the book published to look over what he has written.
For example, in one formula he would make 4 mistakes simply because of copy->pasting the info and not changing the values afterwards. Then in another formula he does the same but this time with values giving you basically this:
"4 - 4 = 4. Thus, now that we know the answer is 0, we can..."
By the middle of chapter 2 I got so fed up with spotting all the mistakes in the book that I wanted to return the book to Amazon. Even now I still have not taken the CD from the back cover in an attempt to preserve it's "value" in case I happen to meet someone who wishes to trade me for the first edition... but do I really want to?
Everybody keeps saying how good this book is and yet my experience has taught me to be wary of this book, so what now?
In fairness I did learn a lot from the book (in places) and I do not consider this book a total waste of money, but (like I said on my review on Amazon...which they decided not to print, btw) one should only buy this book if one already knows what is going on and want some reference material. One should NOT buy this book to learn from if you are totally clueless about the engine.
So my question again: Is the first edition really THAT much better than the second?

There was more information about Paint shop por and milkshape than I really needed, but overall I thought it was worth the money. I haven't tried all the code tutorials yet, so I can't comment on the errors in those, but there is a forum here specifically about problems found in the book which should be able to get you back on the right track.
I got the first edition from computer manuals, www.compman.co.uk
Hope that helps.
