Look me!

What I couldn't understand is the texture size is always
128x128
256x256
512x512
in Torque.

How come it could be possible that making the texture of the billboard with the 'Sheriff' logo on it?
It looks like at the proportion of 1:8 ~ 1:10, which isn't able to fit in the texture size limitation above in Torque.

You guys know how they did it, or any related tutorial or resource?

I'm considering purchasing 3D World Studio, and when I used the trail version, there's no similar functionality to do it.

I also tried to make a texture 128*512 and put it in the texture folder, but when 3DWS was loaded it automatically stretched up to a square size (512*512)

Thanks in advance!

Hmm...I don't know how it works in CS, but if you had an 800 x 128 image of that sign and mashed it to 128x128 in an image editor (so that the writing would be all skinny), you can then stretch it over an 800:128 side of a brush in Quark without tiling it, and it will look like it did before you originally shrunk it to 128x128 (ie., at an 800:128 proportion, instead of 1:1).

Can you do something similar to that in CS?

Well, it worked...
What I actually did was still used the image 128x512 one and assigned on the box. It looks perfectly in cs41.
However when I exported to .dif and watched it in Torque, the texture map was upside down and mirrored.
That means if I rotated 180 degress and flipped horizontally the image it would look correctly in Torque.

lt's a kind of weird, and I'm still working on it.
I guess I'll go to bed and test it tomorrow...

Thanks Brain!

I have to flip sign-type textures in Quark too.

Don't know why -- just do.
