Outdated books?

I'm wondering if I should wait a few months for all the new Torque books to come out or if the 3d AIO and advanced 3dAIO books are good enough for me to go ahead and pick up for around $60 total?

Not outdated. These books are still invaluable if you're learning Torque. You should be able to find them cheaper somewhere.

The original 3D AIO book is certainly outdated, since it is based on Torque 1.2; but it is still an excellent resource for people starting out with TGE. The Advanced book is wonderful; but is not a substitue for the original - you really need both.

My approach with the two books has been to drink in the concepts; and not worry that some of the code has errors or is outdated. The books are valuable. They would be more valuable if there was an errata website; but that's a lot of work for the author to go through (with no compensation).

So you're saying that I need to buy the first book too? I thought having the Advanced 3D AIO was the way to go...

It's basically a continuation of the first book, you gotta crawl before you can walk. :)
