Greetings,
My name is Brih Mair and I am an artist with focus, dedication, and passion. Through research and sketching I can take an idea, explore it in new directions, model, texture, and animate it with speed and precision. My hotkey set is always evolving. I build clean, efficient meshes with tightly packed uv coordinates. I am constantly expanding my knowledge of the programs at hand and always trying to think outside the box. I'm looking for contract work or a position that would allow me to telecommute with the possibility of relocating in the future. My Flash website which contains my resume and portfolio is www.3dgoon.com. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Regards, Brih Mair
P.S. If you do not have the flash player loaded on your machine please download it here.

I'd Just like to give you a couple of pointers if I may, take them as you wish.
Number one rule, dont make an all flash site :/. Its taking forever for me to load and that straight away puts me off.
When looking at your portfolio site choosing a character, and then having a 3d turnaround show is rather annoying, I would prefer to have one or two good flat(2d) renders and an option of having a 3d turnaround.
I guess im suggesting a total site rework, which Im sure you may not want to do, but i think in the long run it will serve you well!
good luck!

@ Brih: If nothing else Brih, I would at the very least put up thumbnails with approx. file sizes so your clients know what they're in for. To Andrews point, some good flats with the option to enlarge or see a turnaround is better. And it's not a rebuild, these are all very easy to implement.
I do like your work though so please don't take my comments to harshly, it's just hot air from 12 years of website design and flash development, that's all :)

@ Andrew: the "taking forever for me to load" has little or nothing to do with Flash and lots to do with how its content is imbedded/implemented. My hair brizzles when people say that. BUT to your point about an all Flash site, there seems little reason for its use here beyond ease of implementing the code for the gallery buttons. It really could have been done as a "flat" html site and been as effective.@ Brih: If nothing else Brih, I would at the very least put up thumbnails with approx. file sizes so your clients know what they're in for. Flash just seems overkill for this particular usage. If I want to view your 3D Work, then I want to be able to get to it ASAP. Im not there to look at fancypants flashwork, or in this case large, mainly useless flash - the fact there isnt really any animation in the design says to me that it could (and probobly should) be done in HTML considering it would look the same.

Flash. Unfortunatly it is the only website program I have worked with and I am hesitant to put my time into learning another. I have a very basic understanding of flash. The one thing I do like about it is its ease of moldability. It is what it is.....and will be with a few fixes. Its unfortunate that the file sizes of video jump crazy high. Thanks for the tips. Brih

All points are well taken. I have been considering thumbnails but wasn't sure how to implament them. It seems you are right. The first click should be just a still. I was thinking of flyover as thumb....but then as far as I know the initial loading time would be increased. I put file sizes for the 2 movies.....but yes again right...they all need them. Flash. Modeling. I started Computer modeling at DigiPen in 2000. I started sculpting in ceramics classes in 95 at the local community college until I got my BA in 99. The answer to the above question is off and on for 10 years. I have been drawing here and there since I was little.

I have made the above changes to my site. Please let me know if you think this is the solution. Thanks. Brih
