Ideas for a Demo Mission

Ok so I'm looking for ideas concerning what type of mission people would like to see in a demo version of a game. They game type is similar to Mechwarrior 2 (I know, its bad to reference another game but I don't want to get into a long winded explanation of my project) - yes, thats Mechwarrior 2, not the other poor attempts at making a good Mechwarrior game since those three came out. Basically its a combat sim where the player can use all kinds of mechanized weapons in addition to walking tanks. Players can also use aircraft. Coordination among teammates is CRITICAL to success, as is the player's ability to command other units in an efficient manner.

Now to the subject of the post.

My plan is to release a demo by year's end (I hope) that will show off a number of gameplay features and weapons systems. Currently I think that I will include quite a few types of weapons systems such as tanks, fire support, walking tanks, aircraft, etc - allowing the player to choose any one of them for use in combat.

What types of missions would you like to play? I think I would enjoy a fast paced mission where the player's team lands on an enemy planet and must fight their way into a base or something to capture a person or object then return it safely to an awaiting spacecraft, ensuring that spacecraft is protected until it can take off and is a safe distance from threats. (Of course the spacecraft couldn't take off immediately because of minor computer or mechanical problems that had to be fixed in the field.) This could also be expanded so that the player must defend all of the waiting spacecraft until all friendly units have been extracted from the battle zone, at which time the player and his/her cohorts can board the final spacecraft and blast off from the planet.

Any serious ideas would be appreciated, however I would like to keep most of the action on or near the ground, not in space or water.

I think you answered you own question with your idea for a mission. However, I think you can flip the scenario arround and be the one deffending the base and having to go rescue a high profile character that has been taken captured in this attack.

My two cents.
