Fmv

Is there a way to add an FMV sequence into 1.3? I know 1.4 supports it, but we have had trouble migrating so decided to stay with 1.3. Basically we are making a very cool video-intro and we wanted to have it play when you start up the game.

I can't be the only person that had tried this, yet I can't find anything within the last year about it on the forums.

You could always make a SWF Movie and use the flash movie player.. there's a resource about it somewhere on here.

Look up the Theora Resource. There is information on how to migrate the 1.4 Theora code into 1.3.

Let me say that it works very well in 1.3, but it's not perfect. I started out using it, but eventually moved to TGE 1.4.

I have used the SWF code in 1.3 as well and it works great except it doesn't support sound yet. Maybe a future version will. Or you could use it to play silent SWF movies while playing the soundtrack for it from wav or ogg sound files. Synching everything might be a pain though.

I will just be playing an opening cinematic sequence. There are NO OTHER fmv sequences in our game, so it is fairly pointless to jump into 1.4 for that.

However, thank you Aaron and David, I will check out that resource. Jason, I will look at the SWF one if Theora doesn't work out.
