Browser game: are you willing to pay for play

This is just a simple query and hope you guys can give your 2 cents.
Considering the current 3D technology in browser like Java3D or Shockwave, I would like to know your thoughts about what if a 'great' game can be produced with these technologies that you'll be willing to pay(to play) for.
Although java3d is expected to have a low-resolution 3D meshes. I am not sure about shockwave 3D, though.

I know the word 'great' is subjective. I posted did this for the sake of comparing standalone games with browser games in some level (or in business sense, if its feasible).
