How to start making gameplay movies?

I am looking for suggestions on how to make gameplay movies? I'm sure its on TDN but I couldnt find it I've never tried to do gameplay movies before.

Have you tried fraps? do a quick google search for it.

My preference is for GameCam, www.planetgamecam.com. Just another program that does basically the same thing.

I use both Fraps and GameCam. VirtualDub is also an essential tool.
