Animation problem on player finger

by Chan Chi Kit · in Artist Corner · 01/09/2006 (8:50 am) · 3 replies

I have exported player.max (the green player, it comes with TGE) and ran unmesh to the dts file. Then, I added som animation to player's hand (finger) in 3DS Max8 and export the animation to to a dsq file. However there is no animation on fingers in ShowTool. I have aslo tried to re-do skin modifier and export again, but it still has no finger animation in ShowTool...

The green player used bip skeleton and had "Bip01 R Finger 0", "Bip01 R Finger 01" & "Bip01 R Finger 02".

If I added the animation to mesh and exported to a dts file (i.e. no dsq file), then there is animation on fingers in ShowTool.

How can I export hand/finger animation as a dsq file in 3DS Max...?

Thanks!!!

Are you sure the the finger nodes are exported in the original model? The animation isn't going to do anything if it doesn't have any nodes to animate in the .dts.

I was having difficulties as well with fingers.
2 things to check (sorry if they are super obvious):

- Make sure you have Bip01 R Finger 0", "Bip01 R Finger 01" & "Bip01 R Finger 02 in your CFG file under "ALways Export".

- You might want to add a trailing letter to the end of each finger's name, like: "Biped01 finger 01F". The exporter expects things that end in numbers to be detail nodes; so it might be getting confused. This advice was given to me by someone else and it seems logical.

hope this helps.
