Is there a way to covert from .max files to milkshape format?

I was wondering if there is a way to convert from .max files to milkshape format. None of the tools such as milkshape, unwrap3d, gamespace, or blender seem to be able to import .max files. I know that most of these tools can import from .3ds and similar files but not .max files. I would like to convert some of the .max files that come with the SDK (such as the player.max) to milkshape format. Any suggestions/ideas are greatly appreciated.

Are the animations and all the associated information such as bones, joints, etc., lost in this process?

There is a plugin for Max that will output a Milkshape file. Don't know if the bones are exported though.

Yes, they are...if I remember correctly. There's also a Max--UltimateUnwrapped3d exporter from UU site, and then you'd have a copy to UV map and an easy export to Ms3D for animation. I also believe animations keyframed will carry over.

Obviously, I don't have 3dstudio. Would anybody be kind enough to convert the .max files that come with the SDK (like the player.max) to a format milkshape can understand (preferably with as much animation intact as possible)? I'm assuming this is something OK to do.
Thanks in advance!

To get a max file in Milkshape, you'd have to save it out of max as a *.3ds or *.obj and then import into MS3D.
