jesus, the term broken link is becoming redundant

by Jeff Highsmith · in Site Feedback · 03/02/2002 (6:40 pm) · 9 replies

let me choke off a rant here - suffice it to say that im so tired of broken links, software that doesn't work, poorly designed sites and programs, and the like that i could pitch my monitor right through the living room window right now with a smile on my face. not that gg is worse than most, mind you.

its just that what is considered acceptable quality and reliability in the computing world is fucking ridiculous. all these high tech companies need to stop 'advancing' the technology, turn around, and FIX all the half functional shit they've produced in the last ten years.

now that my whining and bitching is done, id like to point out that the link to worldcraft 3.3 is dead.

Ease up man, its just one broken link. The rest of the links here work, except perhaps some in the resources section. The site you want is probably just getting updated or something. If you really need to find it, just search on google.

sorry, bit agitated lately, but only for the delivery, not the message. i agree that gg site is a good one. but take the comcast site for example. they changed ownership so now i have to install some software on my box just to get a new email address, which i need since they just closed my old account down. i dont know about you, but i trust some software from comcast as much as a sheite with a fuse showing. but if you think the majority of websites out there are adequate, then our standards are just different. next time you surf, take note of how many pages out there have print friendly versions, just as an example.

Yup, broken links on the net are almost as common as boorishness.

ha.........ha. now wheres that "ignore limeys" button?

edit: upon rereading my comments above, i must apologise. you must be a sheite terrorist, hence your boorish slight. i apologise to you and all the other sheite terrorists whom i offended. oh wait, maybe you made some crappy piece of software or a lousy website, in which case i apologise to all the makers of crappy software and lousy websites. the last thing i wanted was to be boorish.

Um...calm down, buddy. This is a nice happy community here, and there's no need to pick fights.
Yeah, broken links are immensely annoying, but a lot of sites (gg for example) are very stable.
Personally I'm more irritated with popup ads...anyone noticed how there's more an more nowadays?

No I don't want a webcam that can fit "ANYWHERE"!

Hi evan. its not that im mad. i was mad at my computer when i made the first post, and i do regret the way it insulted gg. my "gg isnt worse than most" insult was actually unintentional, and worse, ive done the exact same thing before, months back, so i felt like a heel re-reading that part. i was actually ranting about everyone BUT gg. gg rules. they're hands down the coolest thing on computers or the net. without gg i'd say my chances of developing the game i want would be halved, at best.

however, i dont feel bad about responding to a (in)direct insult (in turn responding to comments about an industry at large) in a direct and logical way.

Use Mozilla and you will no longer see unrequested popup ads.

I'll toss in my agreement with Spock on this one. I've been using Mozilla as my primary browser for several months, and ever since they added their JavaScript options I've been popup-free. It's not even a matter of automatically closing them: they simply don't show up in the first place. I also block cookies and images from places like doubleclick.
