Automated engine changes?

Hi,
I was reading about how different rendering styles can be implemented such as cel-shading, etc. Is it possible as a future upgrade to the engine or maybe someone has made a modification that will give these sort of options. Say you start making/designing a game. You build up a couple of levels and then decide that a different rendering style should be used. It would be great if we could automate the necessary changes at the click of a button. It might be an options screen with a dropdown list of rendering styles - rather than the user having to make manual modifications they could happen instantly.
Please let me know if this is a possibility for future versions.
Thanks
Jason
