I and a small staff of designers are looking for compentent programmers for a future project on the Torque 2D engine, and we've decided to look outside the box to see if any programmers are available.

The project in mind is a 2D Massively Multiplayer Online Game using the Torque engine. Not to give any critical details away, we want it to be basically an Action-RPG allowing multiple players to get on and explore a huge area. This game, of course, is really based around older generation games such as "The Secret of Mana" and "The Legend of Zelda", though we plan to design the whole system itself. In a nutshell, it will be an online RPG that allows for realtime action, including fighting, spells, and general animations.

First off, the basic specs of what we need. Currently, I am the only T2D programmer on the project, and because I come from a heavily web design background, I'm not the best person in the world to be doing it. So, primarily what I'm looking for is people who are willing to work with other designers, artists, sound guys, and general staff and help us create our vision. We have some code already worked out (But trust me, I'm not saving face on this, it's bare bones), but in the future when it comes to more complex things (Such as writing C++ functions for MySQL database access), we'd prefer having a more talented hand in the project.

Will you get paid? This project is starting off free and we plan to have the Massively Multiplayer game free. So naturally, no money will be trading hands. However, it is generally agreed with all staff that if there is a need for charging membership fees or the like, money will be distributed equally among staff members. So, in the short term and possibly in the long term, you will make no money, and neither will anyone else.

Of course, this project does not absolutely require extra programmers, so this is only on a volunteer, "Hey guys, I'll help you" basis. While we respect the great programmers using the Torque engine, we do not feel that paying extra programmers out-of-pocket would reap us that much benifit.

Anyway, be sure to contact me by replying to this message or otherwise if you're interested!
