Compiling Code
by DizzyDoo · in Torque Game Engine · 12/26/2005 (12:51 pm) · 8 replies
Okay, excuse my complete lack of knowledge in this area, but i have no idea where to even start compiling or building my edited code. I have tried my free Bloodshed compiler, that didn't work at all, I don't have the funds to purchase Microsoft Visual C++, which is recommended. So where do i turn to?
Thanks hugely for any help that can be given. I am completely new to this all.

Oh, the threads I recall reading about using the free microsoft express version seem to indicate that it does not work with TGE. Do some more research before downloading it or it could be a waste of effort.

Eclipse is a free IDE that uses a free compiler and it all apparantly works with TGE. I believe its called the Torque Build Environment. I have not used it myself but there is a lot of forum posts on the subject which should get you sorted out.Oh, the threads I recall reading about using the free microsoft express version seem to indicate that it does not work with TGE. Matt, please post if everything compiles nicely with the express version, it would be good to know.

It should do, I've compiled both TGE and TSE with the express version in the last few days with minimal fuss. But if you get into any trouble just post and people should be able to point you in the right direction.
