Small game idea

Hi all,

had a small game idea today and wrote it down, it's not nearly finished and much is missing... but I thought I would just write it in here to see some reaction :) It's an fps/rts game set in a medieval fantasy world. Players are persistant and can buy lvl restricted items in a item shop which is in the lobby, not the actual game. The goal of the game is not only to beat the enemy team, the main objective is to collect the 4 artifacts of the enemy team and hold them in the own base for 10 more minutes.

Well this is not really everything, here is a more specific description: www.ghostgames.net/project/ ( Aware: Bad english^^ I'm tired and it's not my native language... will correct and enhance it tomorrow)

Thanks for your time, hope somebody reads through it and tells me what he thinks as far as someone can tell out of that what I wrote.

Sincerelly,
Chris

*Interest is perked*

What kind of weapons would you be able to use? Bows & arrows and such or?

But it really needs work on weapons... because the standart weapons can everyone have... but you can upgrade them... i had something in mind like bronze axe...silver axe... aso. up to a bit magic looking like weapon... but not too overloaded... don't want too much magic in there... except for the magicians ;)

Weapon upgrades can be easy. This should look like "capture the flag" game in my country. Furthermore, how about placing more powerful and not personal weapons in the base like massive arrow ballista (based on the modern machine gun). Axes are good, but we should have rapier, poleaxe, and spear too.
And if you are really talking about "small" game, i suggest it should be a 2D game with bird's view camera or 3D game with third person's view camera and the area should be small.

Yes of course there will be weapons like that.. the axe was just an example. and i already wanted to add ballistas... but as upgradable object of the armory (hope this is the correct word^^)

and about 2d... sounds like a quite nice idea... but I don't know if torque would be the right choice then... but I think 3rd person view is quite good enough!

Yeah, im thinking of it as an action game where you attack by left click (actually swing your weapon, even swing it in the air), and move by dragging right mouse button or by directional buttons. It will provide an easy to use movement and attack system and will avoid such thing as your character run after the enemy like a beggar run after a gentleman but it will bring problems about range of the weapon and speed of attack.

Well also bows etc. should be in... as for the mellee system I already had something in mind... I will add something about it tomorrow... it's already very late... need to get up soon^^

and yes its more an action game... but also a bit strategy... as the commander can give commands...

If players are just commanders and the soldiers are bots it will be easy. But if the other players are to be under command of a commander, i doubt they will follow the commands issued by that commander for they are individual men with individual minds (except for the case of a guild with the guild leader also the commander). If we force the players to obey the commands issued, it may offend them. So i think it should based on team-play rather than commander-soldier. One thing im concerned is that in most games bow always hit the target automatically. There is little real "accuracy", just a "miss" message. I think we should make it like a shooter game where the player "shoot" the bow. It could be fun. Thanks for reading my opinion.
