Anything I can do between Ch. 3 and Ch. 4?

I have Mr. Finney's book which I was very excited about. However, I am finding the jump between chapter 3 and 4 absolutely shocking. I am familiar with C/C++ and don't necessarily find the TorqueScript hard to follow. My problem is that the explanation of setting up a base game in chapter 4 insane. I don't learn well unless I have the details. Does anyone know any resources that I can look at to fill in the gaps about main.cs and setting up a base game? Or should I just type the stuff in and HOPE that things click eventually?
I am just frustrated that 14 pages are spent on UltraEdit and 42 pages are spent on TorqueScript. I personally don't find any of the UltraEdit pages necessary at all, and the TorqueScript could have been explained in about 10 pages. Chapter 4 which I find to be a brick wall, is only 33 PAGES!
I don't want to vent at Mr. Finney because I am really excited to learn from his book. How can I get past chapter 4? Someone help please.

I really think what Ken's book needs is a Chapter 3.5. I think too many new concepts were introduced in Chapter 4, many without an explanation. But now that I've done a few other things, I can go back to Chapter 4 now with a better understanding.

Check out this thread and look at my post from December 9th. Someone else had exactly the same issue, including me.I really think what Ken's book needs is a Chapter 3.5. Ack! I pretty much have the same problem, but neither link works for me. The first is an empty template, and the second is for people who've bought the license.

Sorry about that...I've been thinking for some time to write that Chapter 3.5, but I haven't gotten around to it.

Quite alright, I'm not actually expecting results all that fast. I did however take a look at the beginning of chapter four again, and I've noticed the information is all there. I guess my problem really is that my programming isn't quite up to what it needs to be to understand the scripts. I'm going to be taking a few programming classes, and start trying to hammer through the various TGE bits and try and get an idea of which does what and when.
