Problems with uv mapping

My question is when i model in milkshape, export as an .obj and use uv mapper to map it, could that be giving me problems with seams when it is reinserted back into milkshape b/c that is when the bad seams reoccur...and if no fix worth going through is using blender to texture a good alternative?

I dont use blender.. but i respect it.. great for no money.. ui is known for being unintuitive but the blender fans say its a case of rtfm ... afaik it has pelt mapping.. the same as in max 8.. a faster way of unwrapping.. using seams... so its got the tools..

hey..! ..its free.. why not try it out...
