by Christian Menge · in Torque Game Engine · 12/01/2005 (10:08 am) · 10 replies

Hey Guys,

Is there a Torque script editor that does the following:

- Syntax highlight
- Automatic help for Torque syntax
- Ability to debug inside editor

Is there a tool that will do this?

Something similat to MS Visual Studio IDE.

Thanks!

Torsion from www.sickheadgames.com is also great, and will eventually be cross platform. I use it daily.

Jacob, Ben,

I've quickly reviewed both packages. They both seem to be VERY powerful IDE's.

With most new tools the user needs to spend several hours if not days to learn and discover most of the in's and out's.

Can you give me a push towards one or the other tool?

Have you found one to be more reliable, userfriendly, productive?

Thanks!

I have found Codeweaver to have more features and customization but Torsion may have been updated since I looked at it (maybe two months ago). Other than that, what I like about it, you may not find as important :)

Edit: as far as reliability, I haven't used Torsion enough but some little bugs that may still be in the current release of Codeweaver are planned to be fixed in the next release. Check out any blog you find by Sam Bacsa - creator of Codeweaver.

The script code link is no longer valid. Can anyone recommend a good reference guide to all script functions / methods?

Thanks!

TDN would be a good place to start...

I use Torsion alot too, and believe it's got better support.
So far all the request have been implented. For a free tool/product, to me, that is just too good to be true.
