Will we be seeing any RTS-SK updates now 1.4 is out?

Just wondering if GG has any updates to the RTS-SK planned any time soon now that 1.4 is out the way. If so any pointers as to what sort of things we might expect in the new release ;) ?

That's a good question Joseph ... I'd like it if they did ... I'm about to start using the RTS pack and don't want to be having issues, because of old code.

Diff the additions to the RTS pack and 1.3 to get all of the RTS changes (plus your own). Then diff 1.3 to 1.4 to figure out the changes made there). compare diffs to find your starting point. It's work, but it will get your codebase there.

You'd need to do something similar anyway to find what has changed between 1.3 and 1.4 (plus any new things that get folded into the RTS kit).

Anyway in a response to one of Ben's plans concerning 1.4 Josh Williams stated:

My team has heavily modified the 1.3 based RTS SK so we are looking forward to the 1.4 release with both excitement and trepidation. Hopefully Ben, Josh, or someone can give us an idea of a release date as I don't want to commit anyone to a large task if 1.4 RTS SK is on the horizon. For the moment we have frozen changes to existing script and engine files and are just working on stuff we have added seperately until there is some announcement.

As far as I know, it's pretty close. Josh is running that process, and when he gets back on his feet from I/ITSEC, I'm sure he'll be talking about it on the forums. :)

Thanks for the reply Ben. I shall await the aforementioned "talking about it on the forums" from the mighty Josh. Gives me time to prepare for a migration of our version control anyway.

I am also looking forward to 1.4. Thanks for all the work that goes into it. Kinda trying to avoid major changes until then. I have heavily modified the engine and the RTS kit. So, its gonna be a scary merge. Hope IITSEC was good to you.

Ben, is it just going to be a straight existing RTS kit port to 1.4 or are there going to be new features/changes included that have been mentioned as being in the pipeline for the RTS kit for a while now too :) ?

Not to be a pushy git (but hey I am scottish).... but is there any word yet as to when a 1.4 RTS will likely be out. If it's not going to happen for a while I'll have to go task someone to do it in house here, which would be a tad irritating as I's rather crack the whip at them for other things if at all possible :P

Checking around in-house. If no one else is getting it done, I will. It really ought to be released soon, though we might wait till the 1.4.1 point release happens.

Will RTS 1.4 include Linux support? Otherwise our team will not upgrade.

Better question would probably have been, will RTS 1.4 have Linux support out of the gate on Day 1, or will the community need to roll it's own again, since we are still working on getting TGE 1.4 fully operational (It is 99% of the way there though).

The RTS kit doesn't have any OS specific bits, so it oughta work just fine. :)

My guess is you're still be waiting until after TGE 1.4.2 (or when ever it will be) has been released.

If you look on the forums, theres a thread on how to port the rts pack over to tge 1.4

Yeah, getting the RTS to work with 1.4 really isn't very hard. It just takes a little patience.

GG staff (I think it was Ben) stated in another forum post that the new RTS kit would come out after the first point release of 1.4, due to a bug in 1.4.
