Who here would support Revolution given the chance?

I ask mearly because I can't be the only one. Does anyone else just want to try and create a game using the new controller?

You and nearly every major developer around :) It does open up the way for a lot of possibilities. And for those that haven't heard, it will be unveiled fully on May 19, 2006. Guess what the collective focus of E3 will be on? :P

Close enough, there will be plenty of Jedi Light Sabre swinging games on the revolution.

One person... there has to be more than this.

Or is everyone just being silent? Or is it true, everyone want to try it out?

I think that my game could be ported to the revolution but the attachable controller that they were talking about would make it easier and buy much 3rd party support.

I'm not that ceen on the controler as I've seen it. I think the left hand analogue stick would need some kind of support to help you hold it stably and get the precision your used to with something you hold with both hands. Particularly if your waving your wand with the other hand.

I do look forward to giving it a whirl though.

I think what Nintendo is trying to do with the Rev and DS is admirable : foster a creative environment for game developers to make new experiences. But they can't do it all by themselves. They need to open both platforms up to indies to increase the size of their creative community so that they get a bunch of unique and stellar games instead of a few greats and a bunch of gimmicks.

It is interesting. Is the controller a gimick? Only time will tell. Given the chance, I would definatley be interested in developing something for the Revolution. But, if for some reason I could only choose one platform to work on as a small developer, the Revolution would probably be my last choice. Xbox Live Arcade is really hot right now and Sony's brand recognition is 2nd to none. I wouldn't write Nintendo off just yet though, not in the indie market anyway. It seems like small quick games will be their bread and butter for the next home console generation.

P.S. LOL Why am I not suprised to see Matt Benfall as the first to respond to a Nintendo related thread. :p What's up Matt, long time no see!

I wonder.. how more sensitive the controller becomes the further away player is from the console? Theoretically, the further player sits, the more responsive to even little wrist movements the "cursor" becomes. It might be a problem, because responsiveness of controls could differ significantly depending on each players apartment layout, something that doesnt happen with classical controlers.

I'm not 100% Fond of the remote/stick plugin. But i saw a prototype (online), for a wireless gamecube controller that the remote plugs into. Personally, i likey.

I feel the Revolution is more for puzzle games/NeverWinter Nights style RPG's.
It'll be for fun games rather than dark, serious ones.
