Interiors

What is better for performance, one large interior or several smaller interiors (which make up the same "space")?

been able to slow my machine down from adding diff's to a mission.

Really won't make too much of a difference on a good pc. IMO*. Whatever looks good and works for you. I have neverbeen able to slow my machine down from adding diff's to a mission.

It probably depends on your usage of portals and LOD. Altough I don't know how LOD works with only one interior, and you're inside of it.

I'm sure I can make it much larger, and I haven't even taken LOD or detail brushes into account yet (didn't even know anything about LOD w/ interiors until you mentioned it). It might make sense to make several smaller pieces, just so I can reuse things like columns, etc.
Thanks for the input. More opinions are definitely welcome.
Edit:
One problem I see with using multiple pieces to create the whole building is the difficulty of placing interiors inside Torque. It's a pain to get things aligned, and I often have to resort to typing coordinates. This is pretty tedious. It would be nice if Torque had a variable-sized grid you could snap items/interiors to. (make note to self: "learn how to program better...")

Well I was just asking because I'm making this huge palace, based on some WoW screenshots and my limited imagination. I was wondering how far would be pushing it when my .dif file became larger than 1 MB.
