Interested in buying - have questions

Does this shader engine support larger sized texture files? Or is it leashed like TGE to small files? I want to use 1024x1024 and I don't want to purchase this engine if it can't work with it.

Also. Does the new terrain engine have new tools to work with sculpting?

Think you may have to wait for the next milestone of TSE, I seem to recall one of the new features being compressed textures. Without compressed textures you won't be able to use many large textures at all (not if you want to run on older 32mb or 64mb vid cards anyway) since video cards typicaly work in 32bit internaly.

You might want to check the resources though, since I'm pretty sure I read a plan where someone had already implemented it into torque. not 100% though

Super huge. TDN has more information on the way that Atlas chunks up and pages terrain. Of course, you have to be a registered user to get into the nitty gritty. I haven't played much with Atlus yet, but I know that a lot of people have been having some fun. There's a guy who was working in a huge terrain editor a while back. Fun stuff.

Good link. Great to read that plan and see those samples.
