Hey
Id like to have some info as to which engines would be best for... And as to how much interest there is to make a game such as described below. Any engine from 2D to 3D is welcome, funny guys can refrain themselves from saying "no engine, the idea sucks" cause quite frankly the ideas aren't original at all.
1) "Bleed for Speed"
Basically a combination of games: The old Quarantine, combined with Interstate 79, Carmageddon and Need for Speed Underground. You start out with your little wagon and "tune" it up to a carnage beast. The tuning aspect of NEed for Speed is slightly altered as you can add spikes, saws and other stuff on your car which will increase your offense or defense but will reduce speed. There's a minimal RPG-esque stat involved with each car, combined with the fact you could customise your car at will and THEN combat it out in city-arena's for money to upgrade more.
2) Agency of Risk
I always wanted to make an ATeam game but that will C1D within 4 minutes. Premise of the game is GTA but either in co-op or single-multiplayer. You control the characters in the A-Team with basic command and can switch between characters at will as you drive round the city of LA in search for people wanting to hire you. You'll travel to other places too (like in SA). It would be a singleplayer game running from a-z of the show and maybe add something extra in fan-fiction or whatever. The whole new hype of Steam like "episodes" could breathe life into this show (and more if you think about it: Nowhere Man, Millennium, Carnivale all could continue virtually if you think of it.)
I already mailed universal for this proposal more then a year ago but they never answered so either they scrapped it or just stole the idea but I always wanted to do something like this. Agency of Risk is derived from L'agence tous Risque which is "the Ateam' in French... Character could be renamed as of which it will become something "new" or a "parody".
3) Smash TV
Anyone remember this great game??? Man I loved it, it was 2D total slaughter. You're this guy, or more depends on which port, that goes into a futuristic gameshow and needs to survive as hords of people attack you. In the meantime you collect cash and prizes with cheesy and tacky comments like "wauw", "gogogo" and "a new toaster!!!!" from a ridge forester surrounded by big boobed girls.
If we could bring this game, albeit changed, into the 21st century, multiplayer and online I think it would rock. Add puzzle and other gameshow related stuff to it. Man it would even be better if companies would sponsor it and you could actually win prizes for real (but thats just a fantasy now is it).
4) "Going postal"
I really liked Postal 1 and I liked Falling Down (with Michael Douglas) about people "losing it". I was waiting for Postal 2 cause they promised a game in which you could go postal but, like every sequal, they made it "funny".
This game puts you in the shoes of a person (custum designed) who gets subdued to several maltreatments in the past which have a lasting effect on you 'now'. You are forced to react in certain ways or hear certain things when engaging in normal behaviour. Standing in the line as a claustrophobic individual would trigger a "fight-flight" reaction, bullied people could flip out when their boss yells at them and... go postal.
POint of the game woud be survival either get through a month or a timeperiod without losing your life or make sure you defy the cops when you do GO POSTAL.
5) Robbers
SWAT4 in reverse... plan your robbery and go do it in as much detaial as possible. Youd go up the ladder from a petty storerobber to a major bank heist and have the option to steak out the surroundings or buildings. Doing certain things (like forgetting a mask, shooting hostages) will trigger certain things that will makeyour apprehension easier. POint is to get as far as possible without the cops getting your ass and taking back the dough.

I like the 5th one the best. I actually had an Idea like that once, maybe you could also add in tools and weapons that let you make decisions about completing the heist violently or non-violently. I think you might be able to do it in Torque if you can get the AI to work, but I'm not sure.
