Using Zap

by Jason Boettcher · in Torque Game Engine · 11/11/2005 (6:05 pm) · 1 replies

I'm thinking about using the Zap example in the TNL as a base for my own game. The game is different to Zap, but the code layout and some of the base classes would be handy to build on top of.

Am I able to do this? Or is it against the License/EULA? The reason i ask is because Zap is a product in itself on GarageGames...

I'm planning on using the Indie TNL license (my game won't be open source)

Thanks

The Indie TNL license would be incompatible with the GPL Zap source code since using any GPL code requires opening up *all* of your source code. If you want to use the Zap source code then you will need to open source your game. If you are willing to do that then there is no reason you can't use the Zap source code. Otherwise you will need to get in touch with us directly about licensing the Zap source code (which won't necessarily be cheap).
