Torque Graphics Comparisons...

I have been working with the newly developing Realm Crafter engine and have been discussing Torque with someone there who has had some negative opinions concerning the Torque graphics. So, I was interested to see what folks here might have to say about the graphics.
How do the graphics stand up to other engines? And, is there something about the Torque engine I should know that would affect the graphics my modellers create? I was a little at a loss to the concern, but on the other hand, it is important to know, beforehand, any limitations of the engine. Otherwise, I could see why someone would walk away with distaste for a product if they felt they had been misled.
Some honest, open-minded responses would be greatly appreciated. Now, I realize there are going to be some people that have some immediate gut-responses to my post. I don't need that, nor does my team. We're looking at purchasing the lot of Torque commercial software as we are already behind on our project. So, we're looking for some constructive discussion before we purchase the indie versions... After which, if the product seems to hold up to the hype, we can proceed to the commercial versions.
Again. any help and discussion here would be greatly appreciated.

The demo looks good.... I just reviewed it using another computer... Still haven't got my main system up to running it. As soon as I am able to run it on this system, I will make the purchase and begin familiarizing myself with the program, first hand.~Silver Mane

As for RC, Nmuta and others, I am afraid that I will no longer be of any help concerning that engine. I voiced my displeasure in a clear and professional manner. In response, my account was locked out. A few days later, I wrote to Mark Bryant, making certain they understood that I would no longer be dealing with RC. I received a condescending letter in return, at the end of which, Bryant wanted to return my $40. I had to laugh. Do these people honestly think that if they throw money at a problem, it will go away? I certainly got the impression they were children throwing a tempertantrum. I must admit, there was a great deal of relief in leaving that situation behind: hollow promises, poor communications, condenscion and abuse. I had hoped for greater things from Solstar. I tabled the discussion and it was unanimous, here, that we shoudl put our efforts into the Torque engine: It is stable, run by professionals, and has a history of products and a mature, professional community. I am all for giving the 'new guys' an opportunity, but eventually one must know when to cut losses (in time, in this case) and move on. For those of you who are still interested and following the RC development, I wish you luck and patience. you will require large portions of both.
Feel free to yak at me on any of the other threads... Our main endeavor is MMORPGs. We have hundreds of licensed characters to play with in the development of our games and many, many concepts we wish to include in our MMORPGs. I'll be reading through a great deal of the forum threads over the course of the next few weeks... I look forward to meeting many of the other developers in these forums and through these forums. See you there.

1. Check Control Panel ->System -> Hardware -> Device Manager under Display Adapters TAB
Sometimes Win gets freaky and "forget" about installed display adapters.
If this is the case, prepare for Windows reinstall / Repair (usualy the easiest way to solve) but before that ensure that you have correct drivers (sometimes general drivers from ATI don't work and you have to find the drivers provided by manufacturer)
2. If Display adapters exist then reinstall directX first, reboot and then reinstall graphic card driver.
If you still have problem you can mail me (for a quicker response), adress is in my profile.
Hope this will work!!!

Josh Ritter, eh? I have read some of his posts already... His name is familiar to me, so he must have had some kind of affect on my thinking. I'll search his material out and see (refresh my mind) what he is doing. Thanks, Chris. And, hey, thanks for the welcome.... By the way, what do you think of TSE? I love the idea of the Terrain Pagination as I intend to create large worlds. Other than the standard docs about TSE, any insight worth noting about TSE, in regard to potential MMORPG development I might find interesting? (It already appears that we will be upgrading to TSE --and TSE Commercial-- as soon as we get a working test TGE world up and running.)
Thanks for the fast input... Gotta love this Torque community!

Thanks, Denis, but I was able to clear all the problems up with a fresh XP install followed by fresh updates of all drivers. I also took the time to clean off the hard drives, do some other system checks and pretty much set this system up to work with only Torque and related applications for the new project.Josh Ritter, eh? Yeah.
Torque. Time to get to work. Nine days is about a third of a month. A long time in production terms. In addition, RC has been promising great results for the last year. A few days before they released their 'Gold" version... with errors cropping up constantly.... I suggested that they hold back their gold release as they were no where near ready to make a public release. Of course, they released anyway. What business in their right mind would have done so? They have left a bad taste in professionals' mouths everywhere. And, who is their PR person? He needs to be black-listed. Basics. Basics. Basics. Do not enrage your customers if at all possible, especially in a relatively small community. Game developers talk amongst themselves and compare notes. RC is already getting a bad name and it's only going to get worse. Someone posted on the RC forums that the problems will be 'fixed' in two weeks. He is dreaming.
Perhaps their true, target customer base is the kiddies who have no intentions of producing a professional product. That could be... right there with Playerworlds. So, it doesn't matter who they enrage because their youthful clientele are not yet wise enough to understand that they are being duped and they constantly become replenished when those that do wise up, move on.
Big sigh, here.
Anyway.... Time to move on.... Let's get this card working so that I can get to work and buy Torque... then get my team onto a direction.
Denis.... How did you update the drivers on the Radeon card? I get the constant response that the required software or hardware are not installed.
