Dif texture question

by Wrene Robyn · in Torque Game Engine · 10/05/2005 (1:32 pm) · 5 replies

Hello,
I've been working with the engine for a bit and have a question. How or can you get a decale like texture on a building? For example the "H" on a helicopter pad? Can this be done on a dif, in quark? Not loving quark

    You can't just paint it?

I think he means like in HalfLife, you can add a decal texture to a wall, directly over the walls texture.

No, Not to my knowledge.... I make decals in blender, and then slap them onto the wall in the ingame editor... a pain, but it works like a charm.

I can do anything in photoshop to make the texture but doesnt quark (REALLY hating that app) just tile the texture? in essence I would have to build a box and not just use a flat poly correct?

The way I do it is just make a block the size of your texture, and embed that into the wall/floor/whatever... you can then right click on that specific face and say "bring to front" or something similar.

Looks like some people have had good luck with fxDecal on 1.3+ www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=resource&page=view&qid=4022

or if your savy you could back port this resource from TSE
