Animation - Where do i start

Hello,
i've read most of the Animation post and tutorials, but i just dont know where to start, i just want to start by getting a box moving but cant even get that far. i have 3D studio max 5.
i know i have to export the sequence and the dts.
i'm unsure how to put it all together in MAX
in the tutorial on Animation techiques i cant open up player.max (the vertices are all over the place)
i dont have a clue on how to get it working in torque?
Any help would be great thanks

Ok this is what i have , and i cant get any futher. seems the tutorial demo wont open fully i removed the mesh and i am going to use te bones with another mesh i have, but how do i link them up, i cant move the biped to the mesh and i cant move the mesh to the bipes?here's a pic

Read your Character Studio documentation.... Figure Mode, align rig to mesh, use Skin modifier to bind; not Physique,weight vertices, pose character[via saved .BIP file]blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...blah....and I don't use MAX....lol.

Im not sure if this is the problem, but sometimes objects are frozen (blocked from being selected or manipulated) for skinning, building a skeliton or other actions, the object may just be frozen, if thats the case, to unfreze it right click in the veiwport, not on an object and a menue should pop up, second from the top under "isolate selection" should be an option called "unfrese all" click that and see if it becomes editable.

Click on your character's body and show us a screen shot. then we might be able to see if you've added the skin modifier correctly.
