Train sound

Hi everybody...im trying to add sound effects to a train(using pathshape) i got going in my game...I look through aiplayer and there were foot sounds..I dig deeper and found out the sounds were coded in engine and called through script..So to insert my sound would be to modify the codes in pathShape.cc? Is there any other way? Thanks..
