Queries about purchase of TGE "Indie" license

by Andrew · in Torque Game Engine · 10/01/2005 (1:26 am) · 12 replies

I was at the Billing and Shipping Information page to purchase an Indie TGE license but I ran into a few problems:

1) My address does not fit into the *Address1 space. How do I go about filling in my address? Do I continue into the Address2 space?

2) This might sound dumb but what do I put down as my Zip?

3) Whose name do I put down ? My name or the name of the person who owns the card? Cos I'm using my mum's credit card.

Sorry if these qns sound noobish. This my first online purchase. I would really appreciate it if someone could reply. I want to get my copy of Torque ASAP=)

Well, if your address is too long for the input field, i guess it would be no problem to continue in the address2 space.

Your Zip is the local postal code for your region, i guess your mom will know it :)

and when you purchase it, there should be two fields, one with your name, and one name with the credit card owner, if its not, just put your name because you are the one who will be holding the licence.

I hope i could help ^^^

Zip is a tough one. We don't really use them in our country so that was a pain in the ass. Your national postal service will have a list of them. If you cant find it online contact them.

I used my Dads credit card (I'm 28 and have never had a credit card ... only reason would be to buy stuff online I guess). Use your Mums name if it is a field related to the credit card. The purchase will still be credited to your account you are logged in as.

Zip = post code.

Mine is something like a1a 1a1
Vernon's might be something like 9001
I dont know where you are from Andrew, but your country's postal service will probably have a website to look up your post code.

I have a few questions regarding the purchase of the Torque engine.
I don't know where to post these , so sorry in advance if this is the wrong place.

I need to know what kind of after sales support I can expect from Garage after purchasing it etc.

Check out the job listings because we are actually looking at buying the engine and hiring some developers.

I would appreciate it if someone could help.
Thanks in advance.

There isn't any official support in terms of how to use the engine and make your game as such. But you will get access to the private forums, resources as well as TDN. All of which are extreamly useful; if you ask your questions on the forums you'll probably get answers to the vast majority of any problems in a fairly short of time.

GG Employees do answer many posts as well, so in a way you get support as a privledge rather than a right :P

When I buy the Indie version, does my work go under the credit and is made under the Garage Games company?

In other words, when I make my game, does Garage games publish it for me no matter what?

What happens when I buy the Commercial Licence?

Garage Games does not publish all games made with torque.
They will only publish good games. (www.garagegames.com/solutions/publishing/)

Commercial Licence is mainly if your company is making over $250,000 a year.
Iirc you also don't need to display the garage games logos with a Commercial Licence. (you do with an indie)

Just read the eulas for more details
