3d models vs. Bilboard plants

Hmmm im just curious what you guys like better 2d plants that always face you or actual 3d moddels? does it count in resources? does it take up alot of mem? does it matter? Im just really curious.

Billboard plants = 2 polys, look like crap at medius or close distances

Model plans = 20+ polys, look decent. masses of them mean major resource use.

You're best off with a combination of both. Model trunk/base, and billboard leaves with good textures and placement.
