Joining meshes

Just figured this out and thought that I should share :]
I had a problem with the texture on one of my weapons, I used multiple meshes to build it but after I joined them (Ctrl+J) I made the UV map and the texture, problem was that it refused to render properly even in blender.
After trying some things I loaded a older save before I joined the meshes and remade the UV map on all parts seperatly but without adding a material to them, then joined the meshes and added the material, now it works fine.
*note: Make sure to move the UV maps of the seperate meshes to different location in the UV/Image editor or they will overlap eachother after you joined the meshes.
Feel free to add anything if you feel that I've missed something :]
