So when i got up today i finally decided i would go to desmond's webpage for optimizing difs and copy the webpages for my own reference. id already read the material there a couple times and i decided it was detailed enough to simply add as a resource. however, i was extremely disappointed to find that the website is gone!

I had once experience with quark . It was like a bad relationship. It lasted a few weeks and then we both decided we did not really work well together, so we are now seeing other people.
Like Cartography Shop.

I was messing around with quark yesterday trying to make irregular shapes for caverns and stuff. i dont find it too hard to use. its a change of pace from regular modeling programs. im starting to get used to the interface.

the main thing i wanted to get from desmonds website is the documentation on LOD. i think i pretty much got everything else; lights, detail brushes, null texture, and rendering modes. if anyone feels like explaining how to create dif LODs(or point me to a source that does) id appreciate it.

USM is the University of Southern Mississippi - Mississippi was just hit by hurricane Katrina. According to some reports over two million people in the southern US are without power, so chances are the site is only down temporarily (and hopefully everyone is alright).
