Compile Max 7 exporter
by Greg Gardinier · in Torque Game Engine · 08/26/2005 (7:50 am) · 10 replies
I have the source code for the max 7 exporter and now I need to compile it. I am not a programmer so I am kind of just figure this out as I go along.
The inruction which I found here (www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=resource&page=view&qid=7454)
Say the following:
I follow everything up until the point where it says I must have "maxsdk70" I looked the libraries and say maxsdk31 and maxsdk40 but there isn't a 7 where can I get this? I tried compiling and I am just getting errors saying certain files can not be found.
I really need to compile the changes I have made the exporter so that I can finishing working on some dts objects. If somone can help me out here it would be apreciated.
Thanks

Say the following:
Quote: Instructions:
The project files go in the VC7 folder.
The .cc and .h files go into Torque / Tools / max2dts exporter.
There is a file called "Helper.cpp" That file goes into the VC7 folder. This is required in order for VC7 to properly work with .cc files.
Last but not least you have to have a "maxsdk70" for MAX7 "maxsdk60" for 6 "maxsdk50" for 5 (if you want it 5).
Make sure you compile under the version library that you plan to use.

Jonathan is right, your 3dsMax7 install cd has the MAXSDK as a option to install.B--

I thought that as well, and I have my CDs here but I can't find it... It talks about it in the readme files. Also if somone has the SDK all set up and stuff and would like to compile my very simply changes ( just changed two numbers) that would work as well.

Ugh, I don't have the SDK on my installation CDs. It's probably because this isn't a retail copy its "promotional" I got it through a friend. If somone has a copy of the sdk and could compile these changes for me I would be in your debt. :)

Piracy of any software is not condoned here. If you want the SDK, go and buy do yourself a favor and buy 3DS Max. Its as simple as that. Asking others to break their liscensing agreement with Autodesk/Discreet just to help you out is incredibly low and most definately against the sprit of this community.

Let me get this right, you for all intents and purposes pirated 3DS Max for whatever lame ass reason you want to give. Your buddy was too f'in retarded to even burn you the CD properly (or downloaded some hacked up warez copy), and now you want people who have actually shed blood and tears to afford a great application like this to give you the SDK? I thought since the CD had the discreet label on it, some tutorials, and other misc additional features the SDK may have come with it as well. Turns out it didn't.
I wasn't aware that asking somone to compile somthing for me was a breach of the liscence agreement if it is I am very sorry and wouldn't ask anyone to do that.
I am sorry for the confusion but I don't apreciate being acused promoting illegal activites on the GG community forums. I know far to well having been involved with the development of software in the past what goes into creating these applications. I am a proud owner of the TGE SDK and many other software titles(Visual Studio, Photoshop, XSI...), and I don't make it my business to deprive developers of much needed funds especialy when it comes indie game development.

I only have 16 more days left on this copy of max before it expires.... My friend gave it to me because I was on dial up at the time and didn't want to wait forever and a day to download.... I assure you its legitimateI thought since the CD had the discreet label on it, some tutorials, and other misc additional features the SDK may have come with it as well. Turns out it didn't.

@Greg: I'm pretty sure compiling an updated plugin is not a EULA issue, but I think L Foster was under the impression you wanted someone to send you the SDK, which would be illegal. I will compile an updated max2dts for you, just post the project, or zip it up and mail it to the email under my user profile.B--
