IGC Tracks: Can I do them all?
by Chris "Tricky" Cowherd · in General Discussion · 08/24/2005 (10:48 pm) · 16 replies
The IGC tracks look great! I'd like to attend many of them so I'm wondering if they run sequentially or in parallel?

Will the be aidio recordings available after the conference for those of us who can't make it? I'd love to purchase them.

It is kind of sad that they are in parallel since often I find two or three that I would love to be a part of. Though by having them in parallel they can pack as much into the three day event as possible.

You would need video in most cases since they make use of a lot of visual aids.It is kind of sad that they are in parallel since often I find two or three that I would love to be a part of. Though by having them in parallel they can pack as much into the three day event as possible.

Keynote: "The State of the Revolution"
Building a Game Studio Roundtable
I'd kill to listen to them. Even missing the visuals, it'd be worth listening to.

Yeah, I'd also be interested in a copy. Downloadable vids would be great.

All in all though IGC is well worth your investment to attend even if it does set you back a few bucks. Its a great show that is put on by GG so come on out to Eugene and support them and your community if you want to take in a great value packed conference.

Historicly speaking, none of the IGC sessions in the past have been recorded. There is always talk about doing this but the cost to bring in a professional crew to do this has been too prohibative and would cause quite a logistical mess. As such I wouldn't keep your hopes too high about any sort of feed or recorded video being provided. You might want to get in contact with Jay Moor or Ben Bradley about that as I am pretty sure that you would need to get their permissions.

I guess we should be clear. We're not planning to make full video recordings although we've discussed doing audio.
GarageGames doesn't have any restrictions on the conference and we may be having media coverage that could include filming and digital photography.

I recently saw a public notice posted at PAX informing anyone attending that participation at PAX required attendees to grant all rights for usage of their likeness for video and audio recording purposes. I found that interesting, since my understanding of media law said that expectation of privacy can't be assumed in public places like a convention. I guess we should be clear. We're not planning to make full video recordings although we've discussed doing audio.

It should be considered as a great promotion for future IGCs.

It would be nice if as many people could record their IGC experiences as possible, because those unfortunate hundreds that can't go may like to have some share of the experience. I'm talking about video more than audio, plain audio just isn't very fun.It should be considered as a great promotion for future IGCs.

Assuming GG says it's OK, I'd like to record the sessions I attend + play time activities

I am planning to take my video camera and will probably be attending these sessions in addition to the keynotes, etc:
1: Torque 2D development
2: Game production on XBox 360 or TGE 1.4 (still undecided)
3: Torque scripting
4: Billion dollar opportunity
5: Starting a game studio or Professional game dev (still undecided)
I'm also attending the Torque Indie Bootcamp, but as it is seperate from IGC I'm not really sure about recording of it.

@Tom: No, we do not allow video cameras at the boot camps at this time. As I've mentioned, we do plan on having alternate distribution methods for future boot camps, but that's a bit in the future yet.

I'd be more than happy to host the videos for download... I'll even cut and edit them from source if you would like.

I didn't think so, but it's always worth a shot to ask. :)
@Chris
Thanks, I'm sure I'll need mirrors with all the people expressing an interest in wanting to see the sessions.
If anyone else is planning to record, please post the sessions you plan to attend so we can minimize duplication.
