More free sprites inside

I've put up some more free sprites for you guys to download. This pack is a collection of spaceships, ground vehicles and assorted weaponary. The vehicle body and turrets are seperate graphics, so you can set them up as mounts and rotate them independantly.
All of the graphics are viewed from the top down (sorry you side scrolling peeps - but maybe I'll release some for you in the future).
The graphics are all 256x256 transparent PNG files, so to get turrets mounted and rotating properly, you might need to pad them out to get the turret centre in the right place.
Here's a little teaser.
Body1

combined with Turret5

Results in SuperTank

I hope you find it useful. Here's the link.
The rules: Free to use for personal and commercial use.

This looks *very* nice - wish I was able to create graphics like these on my own...The tank shown will be most useful as placeholder graphics in my upcoming Tank Wars game!

They look great, too bad my current game is side-scrolling and not from above-scrolling.:)

The teasers look nice, but your rule prevents me from going any further and actually downloading them since I'm working on a planned commercial product. Even though it is top scrolling and I'm going to eventually need military type vehicles like that one. :)

Well there's no problem in using them as place holders until you get your final art in place. To be honest these renders wouldn't be suitable for release quality art. The lighting is baked in, so if you had the body oriented as the teaser picture, but the cannon rotated 180 deg, then you'd have some odd looking light/shadow positions.

Yeah I think the main problem is the no-commercial use deal. I don't think too many here bought T2D so we can make free games. Plus there's a ton of art we can get for non-commercial use. The renders aren't bad at all, I think they look better than what's in some games that are being sold.

and i agree, saying you cant use the art for any commercial project is pretty much a non-starter for most people (including myself)

Yeah, i saw some links (now dead) to other free artwork, if anyone has more links i'd love to see them.and i agree, saying you cant use the art for any commercial project is pretty much a non-starter for most people (including myself)

I have little artistic ability, and unlikely to contribute any content of note.
I am not planning a tank/mech game, but they'll be nice for testing.
Thanks.

@Philip: Where did you get the models from - have you done them yourself or are they from some kind of content pack?
#12
I got them from Daz3D: http://www.daz3d.com
Once there, do a search for Davorama. He's the guy that made all the models. The kits you want are:
G.V.C.S. Core (Ground Vehicle Construction Set)
G.V.C.S. Construction Equipment pack
G.V.C.S. Artillery Pack
F.V.C.S. (Flight Vehicle Construction Set)
MCV Command Vehicle
L.C.V.1 Cargo Vessel Exterior Pack
There are also texture packs for the models. The GVCS and FVCS should be your first port of call, as they have most of the juicy items in.
You can use the free Daz Studio application, but I use Poser as it's more powerful. It's not cheap to buy all the kits, but the versatility is amazing. It also happens that his stuff is currently on sale over at DAZ, so you can save yourself a tidy sum if you do decide to buy. IIRC you should also get about $10 of vouchers to use towards purchases when you create an account.
Check out the following thread in their forums for some of the cool things people have done: http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=17415&sid=89c48795c5fe6edda3dff14adc68dfd0
I've posted a few in there as 'Bursar'.
As with most Poser stuff, taking 2D renders of things and using them (or selling them) is absolutely fine. You just can't do anything directly with the 3D models (such as exporting them from Poser and converting them for use in TGE).
Whilst you're there, have a nosey through the free model archive. Lots of good stuff, and as DAZ Studio is a free download, you don't even need to buy Poser to get started!
I feel like I've just let some secret out of the bag... :)

It's basically a huge collection of 3D models that are in parts. You then just stick a load of parts together to come up with the vehicle you desire. Tanks, jeeps, trucks, aircraft, you name it.I got them from Daz3D: http://www.daz3d.com

Great, thank you. I have downloaded it and they look good.
One suggestion. You may want to add a readme file to the zip with your name and website or other info. I know if I end up using something someone has donated to the community I will mention them in the credits, but it's going to be hard for me to remember exactly where I got it a couple of months from now. I did add one to my local copy with the info.

Make sure you also get the Victoria 3, Michael 3 and Aiko 3 models. They're currently free (and have been for some time) and will allow you to make some awesome characters for your games. Again, free clothing/weaponary/misc items are available, so you don't need to worry about breaking the bank.

I wasn't expecting to set the world on fire with these, but a few comments would have been nice.
