Although I did find that funny, that was way to harsh... just because someone cheated in a video game.-Jeff

Cheating in a game is definitely an abominable practice and shows a complete lack of character, but it isn't against the law. Destruction of personal property is... swift and forceful ejection plus banishment from league and/or lan parties would have been almost as dramatic and would have had the advantage of being perfectly legal.
That said, woohoo! That was very cool to see. Sorry to be such a square.

I agree. While it is a satisfying thing to watch (and probably fun to do) I would be surprised if the guys who threw the computer and monitor didn't end up paying for them. If they didn't, the lan organizers probably did (or should have).Cheating in a game is definitely an abominable practice and shows a complete lack of character, but it isn't against the law. But you must also see that cheaters are destroying the whole community for/with their own fun.

In the video they show how much this machine has cost, so I think he had to pay for it.But you must also see that cheaters are destroying the whole community for/with their own fun.

Some cheap junk being thrown out, as you can see they didnt actually trash the monitor.
Besides that who are dumb enough to use a wallhack or any other ovbious cheat at a LAN party where anybody could look at you screen one time and you're busted.

Did you think that this could have been setup as a warning to cheaters? Some cheap junk being thrown out, as you can see they didnt actually trash the monitor.

yes cheater suck, they kill the fun only cause they cant be good at a game, they are stupid... and i dont care about his computer, he deserves it, maybe he wont cheat any more.

Personally I think that doing both - (Busting up his machine and banning him) - would be the most fun approach, especially if you explained to the other players why the winnings had decreased by $2000...
Other than that, all I can do is laugh evilly... Thanks for posting that :)

I always wondered what would happen if I threw my case on the ground... was surprised the screen didn't break though, most impressive...Personally I think that doing both - (Busting up his machine and banning him) - would be the most fun approach, especially if you explained to the other players why the winnings had decreased by $2000...

Cheaters do suck, but I hope that charges were pressed(or this was a hoax) and the person comitting the crime was punished.
If they are cheating at a lan you shouldn't even waste your time (and money) breaking their stuff. Just make a big deal of it, yell, hell... even name call.
If you're going to destroy $800-$2500 of property well... don't. lol.
Chances are this was just some guy who know the people at the lan, and wanted to make a "funny" movie. Most of the more "bizarre" movies or images on the web are fake, and I severely doubt anyone is quite this distrubed to smash the computer of some dork who is cheating in some unimportant LAN game.

Just another sign people take games too seriously...Cheaters do suck, but I hope that charges were pressed(or this was a hoax) and the person comitting the crime was punished.

1. They pick up the "cheater" without him resisting.
They could be sued (and would would lose 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time having to possibly pay a lot more then $2000)
2. This whole stupid thing was caught on tape.
You think people video tape every-single worthless lan, and then make a movie when something memorable happens?
3. Obvious legal troubes.
He could sue for harassment (like someone else said, it's not illegal to cheat in a GAME... just lame) for assault, for destruction of property as well as emotional damages (pry wouldn't win the first account... but he would for the other three.
What is funny is how this LAN "company" (since most of em go under after a few lan parties) tries to bill itself as a badass lan company.
Anyway, one thing I've learned from taking a marketing course and being all around the internet is people are liars. *Especially* on the internet, and most every-single advertisement is at least an exaggerated story.
So when you pair up internet and advertisement you get REALLY BIG LIES!
It was funny to see, but too many problems with the clip. If it were real, this would be the last thing that lan company *ever* produced.
Hell... if this is what could happen at a LAN party I'd go there and CHEAT ON PURPOSE.
I wouldn't mind getting picked up and thrown out getting my pc destroyed. I know i'd make a good deal of cash in the long run, and probably shut down the company behind the lan.

Of course I don't think this would be the right way to handle cheaters, but it is really satisfying to see his computer becoming debris. If it is real or not, I just like seeing it.

it is most likely a fake....the kid that got thrown out wasnt as pissed as someone should be when their $2000 computer was blown to bits. plus, they had him and the computer within seconds...what happened to disconnecting everything? where did the keyboard and mouse go? entertaining clip, though.

Im almost sure it must be a fake, if it is not, then thats a pretty disturbing piece of action.
However seriously speaking, cheating in a game is a common practice, but the ones who should stop cheating is primarily US the ones who design and code the video games.
Making a quake 3 style game, and then saying "camping is for losers" is not enough. The program should have some measure that forces you to move after a certain time. the latest cs games have server based cheat detection schemes to catch a cheat when being used. etc. And if everything fails, a way to easily kick cheaters of the server should be implemented.
Sometimes a game appears to be made for cheating, they are several levels (and mods) for doom, quake2 and quake3 that look impossible to beat without cheats (did someone actually beat doom2 the first time without cheats?)
Remember that for some people cheating is simply a quick way to beat what seems an "impossible" game. They probably need propper training, hone their skills, find the right way to do something or simply recognize that they suck at it and neither of those comes as easy as cheating. theres where cheat prevention kicks in.

That's what we need to do with our games. Block the concepts as well as the cheats.
However... there is one thing that disturbs me. There's this effective anti-cheating guard for CS that scans your hard drive for certain cheats. I don't like the idea of how that HalfLife can access my hard drive.. It makes me feel less secure. I don't suggest using this as an anti-cheat because even if YOU find it secure, YOu don't know who can make it insecure somehow...
anyways just my ranting.

That's exactly.. games need to be made to prevnet cheating. Right now supposedly Valve's making an update to HL's engine that's supposed to help with the cheating situation (a little late tho imho). However the only time i play counterstrike now is when a server requires a program called cheating-death. this program not only blocks the cheats itself, it also blocks the theory on how these cheats work (hard to explain, my friend who was from the clan who made it told me the real basics). That's what we need to do with our games. Block the concepts as well as the cheats.
