Make a simple level for walk trough it

I just started with torque with the book 3D game programming all-in-one but it seems to complex, what i want to do its a simple level and walk trough it in first person like in the game GTA Vice city the character walks around the city, but without animations or interactions of any way just walk(first person, no visible character) and see like a virtual tour controlled by mouse and keyboard as most first person shooting games.

I have good knowledge of 3dsmax(modeling, texturing, lighting), intermediate level of programing(php mostly but i can handle c, c++ without problems), and photoshop.

If someone knows where to find a tutorial or documentation in how to do this step by step it will be very apreciated.
