Terraforming and animated tiles?

I was wondering if it was possible to use terraforming? And if we could make animated tiles?
I'm asking this because I would like to make a role-playing game with animated water and waterfalls. I would also like to make natural-looking pathways without having a giant tileset with every possible grass/dirt combination.
Or, is there a way to build onto the map editor to get these features?
Thanks! I hope this was clear :D

To that, the answer is no, you have to place everything by hand.

I think she means place tile types, like a path tile and have the transitions to the surrounding tiles happen automatically, and also have some variation placed as well.To that, the answer is no, you have to place everything by hand.
