So which one is it?
Is the demo 42mb and just the source is 18mb?
Does anyone know approximately how much hdd space I will need to download/extract/compile tge on linux with all needed libraries?

That's a full DEBUG build, including all the intermediary object files, plus some other extra gumpf. Probably about the worst possible case with Torque as it comes in the box.
Looks like the 45M is the one you want. Maybe the other is just a demo? There is only one link to download torque after you purchase it and click "download" on your account page.
1) Was meant to have been released, hasn't yet. Try poking the TST forums again
2) Define "fully supported". There's a fully working blender exporter, with a forum dedicated to it on gg.com, and it works perfectly in linux. Milkshape doesn't run on linux
3) It was eaten by a grue. Actually, I don't believe it was ever going to be released
4) That's not a linux question, but I suspect the answer is "yes", although it's not official or announced or anything. There's openly support for PS2, XBox, and XBox360. Make your own mind up about the rest.
