Urban Games is a new indie development studio, consisting of remotely located, talented, voluntary team members. With the announcement of our new title we are looking to expand our team. No previous experience is required, just a genuine commitment, artistic talent and a creative mind. Team work and co-operation is an essential requirement of anyoe interested in these positions. The jobs are non-paying.
We are looking for the following people:
* Concept artists - we need people who can draw characters, buildings or vehicles that our modellers can use.
* Modellers
* 1 Writer - we have two competent writers as it is, but we need one more, since this is a large project that is character-centered - so we need someone who can work on creating characters at first, and then start out with dialogue.
Modellers and concept artists (and skinners or coders, if you should wish to apply), contact robsandbach@urban-games.net.
Writers, please contact tiarnan_ceinders@urban-games.net
In your applications, please give us some background on yourself, what you've done before, and some previous works of yours. Samples are necessary - this is a talented and serious team looking for talented and serious people.
You can find out more info about our project at our home page.
The background story, and the main character, is posted in the next post. Copyright Urban Games 2005.
Best regards,
Tiarnan Ceinders

Occupation/Employer: Janitor at the Premium Corp. Headquarters in New York.
Strengths: His intellect he has a university degree in economics, and is able to think quickly. A rational man, he is not prone to base his decisions on emotions unless put under extreme stress. He went through military service in England, and has basic knowledge of how to handle weapons. He is also in good physical shape, not letting himself slip after his military service, keeping fit by going for runs and working out at gyms. Though no athlete, he still has better than average condition and strength.
His lack of a chip is in most cases a disadvantage, but there's one positive note without the note, the government, and Premium Corp., is unable to keep track of his movements.
Weaknesses: His lack of a chip puts him at an immediate disadvantage he knows how to drive, but is not allowed to do so since he doesn't have a driver's license. Even though he has a strong intellect and a university degree, he is not able to use it to get a promotion within Premium Corp. After all what kind of company would be willing to give a man without a track access to restricted areas, considering that he lacks the chip they use to control their workers?
He is also too trusting, and thinks well of everyone even at times when he would be well advised to be a little more cautious.
After his business folded, his wife left him, and he left for the USA only to work as a janitor, he suffers from a depression, which makes him feel powerless and tired at times. He takes comfort in his daughter Emely, who is now 9 years old.
Ambitions: Total lack of ambitions. His depression has left him with no larger goals than to go through the motions at work, and be done as quickly as he can, so he can spend precious time with his daughter.
Intelligence: He is very intelligent, although at times very naive. And since he is so trusting of people, it also makes him blind to peoples underlying motives.
Sense of humor: A dry, ironic sense of humor.
Health/Physical Condition/ Distinguishing marks/ Disabilities: He's healthy, with exception for his depression. No physical scars or other distinguishing marks that set him apart from other persons.

Info on Premium Corp.: This Chinese company established itself on the American market shortly after the war, and within a year was the largest organization in the steel industry, reaching a near monopoly by the year 2081. A decade later, the company decided to venture into other markets, and has in half a century been able to gain control over nearly all oil sources still remaining. With oil still being the common way of running a vehicle, and with the few oil sources remaining by the end of the 21st century, the company is in a unique position by the mid 22nd century with control of the oil industry, and the steel industry, Premium Corp. employs nearly 25 percent of all American citizens, when taking into account other business ventures the company has made to make sure that they don't have all their marbles in one bag. The board of governors for Premium Corp., still consisting largely of Chinese businessmen, first or second generation Americans (with Chinese heritage), or Americans, have been able to exercise their unique standing in the American business world to take advantage of the American government. Threatening to move their business to Europe, and thereby putting a large amount of Americans on welfare as they become unemployed, the company holds the government by the fiscal "throat". Using their powers over the government, Premium Corp. has been able to buy access to the large computer database that tracks down all American citizens. With access to this database, the Corporation is at an incredible advantage they can not only keep track of their own workers they are also able to study the purchase habits of nearly 500 million individuals! Martin Krantz
Nickname: "Chris" or "Serrati"
Date and place of birth: 2108, Cornwall, England. (It is the year 2141 now, which makes him 33 years old).
Height/Weight/Physical description: 168 cm, 70 kilos, Brown hair, gray eyes, average body-shape, hair approximately long enough to reach his ears.
Citizenship/Ethnic origin: British
Education, background: Studied economy in England at university level, and started his own business at the age of 23. Married his wife, Rosalyn, at the age of 24. Later the same year she gave birth to a baby girl, Emely. Rosalyn left him, and his daughter, for another man in the year 2036 just months after he had gone out of business due to bankruptcy. With massive debts to some shady figures, Serrati decided to leave the country and try his luck in the United States.
Background of the United States: Unfortunately, Serrati couldn't have picked a worse time to move to the United States. After a big war against Russia in the 2070's, where several terrorist attacks were carried out by American citizens against American military targets, the United States were in big trouble. Without the help of a by then largely democratic China, it is uncertain if the United States would have been able to win the war. However, the help from China didn't come without a cost Chinese corporations have gained access to the American market on a larger scale, getting monopolies in certain areas of business by driving domestic corporations out of business. This has also resulted in more and more Chinese citizens immigrating to the United States to work for these large Chinese corporations.
The war against Russia, and the terrorist attacks during that war, forced the government to take action. Since two generations back, the American government has a new way of controlling its citizens.
As an individual comes of age (at the age of eighteen), they have a chip surgically implanted under the skin on their right shoulder a chip that contains all the information necessary about the individual. The chip contains regular information about the person (date and place of birth, current home address, contact information), but also contains school grades, information about previous employments, driving licence and weapon licences. The chip can also be modified depending on the needs of different corporations to restrict access to certain areas the chip works as a password to enter these areas, if it has been modified correctly. For the individual it also works as a credit card. The most important function of the chip, however, is in controlling the citizens. The chip is at all times connected to a large computer database, which tracks the movements of all citizens in the country. Since the chip works as a credit card, it also records all purchases made by an individual.
The chip also controls vehicles in the United States - you can't control a stolen vehicle, since the vehicle is linked to a corresponding chip. This has drastically reduced the amount of vehicle thefts in the 22nd century.
The main character's background in America: Christopher Serrati arrives in New York by the end of 2036 upon getting his green card the next year; he is given the option of having the chip implanted. The European Union have, since finding out about the chip, protested against the way it is put to use. In his naďveté, he refuses only to find out that it is virtually impossible to get a well paying job in any organization without having the chip implanted. Being a man of integrity, and some stubbornness, he decides to accept a low paying job, as a janitor, at a Chinese corporation, Premium Corp.
