Exporting DTS with standard Max bones
by Brandon Maness · in Artist Corner · 07/21/2005 (10:25 am) · 2 replies

Working almost solely with the max2dts exporter and character studio biped, I received an email the other day describing problems exporting with standard max bones. The exporter was not acting nicely, so I thought I would create a quick clip that shows a schematic view setup that exported correctly with standard max bones.
The quickClip is here.
And the image of the schematic view that worked is below.

Hope that helps some people that use max, but not Character Studio.

Sounds like your right on the Bone01 name. This was just an email I had received with the bones not exporting.. I just threw in base01 and everything worked, but it sounds like your right. Good catch! Thanks Magnus!B--

Hm. I think you're speculating incorrectly.
Would you mind explaining your problems with exporting standard bones?
I've used my own custom rigs consisting of standard max bones without using base01 several times without any problem whatsoever. Something that MIGHT be a problem though is calling your bones "Bone01" etc. Try renaming the bones to something that doesn't have a trailing number (or the exporter may think they're meshes).
