More realistic waters edge

One of the things I've noticed about a lot of modern games, which also goes for TSE in it's current state is they have these gorgeous terrains and gorgeous water but there's no decent transition between the waters edge and the land itself. Some games do have the gentle waves as the water laps onto the shore for example in Farcry and in Settlers V however I'm wondering how hard it would be to do something like this in TSE? I'm guessing it's something that needs to be done at code level and I'm imagining it's a lot of work but I'd like some reassurance of that because if there is a fairly easy way of doing it I think it'd go a long way to improving the feel of certain scenes in the game. Does anyone have any idea what is involved in doing something like this and how hard it is if it's even feasible at all?

Thanks in advance!

Heh, Don't worry. I've already signed up for my job and everything. I took my ASVAB and got a 97, which according to everyone I saw while there, is exceptionally good. So, they had me sign up into the nuclear field which I was aiming for and I plan to go in as an electrical technician. So yes, I've got things planned out for the most part.
But thanks for your concern and advance!
And for the support of my work. ;)

Ex-navy here myself. Yeah definately if you get it in writing when you sign up that you are guaranteed an A-School you'll be fine. If you go in as a standard seaman chances are they will have you either in the mess hall or on deck and neither one is an enjoyable job. Though ports are all nice. =P

Looks like a very cool effect. Does the water still have reflection and how does the effect look with .dts/.dif shapes in/partialy in the water?

Welcome aboard, shipmate! :)

Yeah, I'm a squid, too.

@Jameson: Merged into the ET rate some years back. Should really be IT, but in time, IT will be merging into ET, too. I can't wait to see the first one take a 4,700-Volt hit! lol

@Jacob: 97 is a very good score. Honestly, after taking the ASVAB back in high school, I couldn't believe how easy it was. After taking it again some 12 years later, I couldn't believe it hadn't changed (much), and that more people don't score higher....the average in the military is 35!?!? Sad... So, you'll do well. And you'll wonder "why" a lot, and in short time, you'll understand...lol Take it all with a grain of salt, and thank yourself for being so fortunate for knowing the difference, then as you advance, make the difference. :)

I am also an ET (Electronics Technician...or as I prefer...Enlisted Tourist), but I opted not to go into the Nuke program...(scored a 99...didn't want to deal with the extra BS of the program). I work with nukes and bubbleheads all day...they're a different breed...that's for sure. ;) But...the money is good. lol.

Anyway... Hopefully we'll run into each other in some exotic port. I might even let you buy me a beer! (which is a privlidge, since I don't drink beer)

So...off this thread, and onto the other one. I've got some dives set for this week to get the pics done, but the water has been really rough this week...we'll see.
