Wahoo Studios, Inc. is working on a PC music-oriented game for family markets. We need someone to help adapt the game to the Macintosh.

Necessary qualifications: Skill and Experience with C++. Skill and experience on the Macintosh.

Ideal qualifications: Game development experience on the Mac. Knowledge of Music theory. Knowledge of MIDI and MIDI programming. Some knowledge of DirectX would be a plus.

Applicants who can list shipping products they have worked on will be preferred. We'd also prefer to have a professional reference we can check with.

Remote work is fine, but we'll need to feel confident in your ability to work independently and in the communication path between us.

Is your current engine utilizing DirectX? I'm assuming so from your ideal qualifications, but I'm just fielding a question since the OpenGL conversion may prove to be a major undertaking.

    David,

Yes, the graphics engine in this particular game is DirectX-based. Actually, it's sort of split into two rendering systems, one using DirectDraw 7 and one using Direct3D 8, so it's already *slightly* prepared for rendering in another way.

I should have explained that the game is 2D. We'd be open to the idea of using MacOS calls to implement the Mac side of rendering, rather than OpenGL, but either way is probably acceptable.

There's also file system adaptation, input/events, big-endian data changes, MIDI support rewrite, etc., etc. Plenty of work to do. :)

    Thanks,

What are your target OS versions for the Mac? Is the framework for the game itself embedded in MFC or .NET for windows messaging and such? What is the base size of your codebase (no specifics other than size) so as to acertain the relative size of completely recoding it from scratch if necessary.

Again, I'm just fielding questions. I love that you're looking at an expansive game-hungry market. I'm trying to get a feel for the scope.
