Gmail anyone?

by Brandon Maness · in General Discussion · 07/18/2005 (12:50 am) · 18 replies

After testing the thread notify component for the tutorial forums I found myself navigating through my old hotmail and yahoo email accounts to make sure everything looked ok in them as well as gmail. It had been awhile since I had visited these free email sites, and I must say they stink! Ads everywhere, and SLOOOOW load times to delete messages, etc.

If you use free web based email, and have not tried gmail, you don't know what your missing! I should see if they have stock.. I might buy some. :)

But seriously, after logging in to those ad infested email sites, I thought to myself, there might be some people out there wanting a gmail account. If that's you, I can help, just ask!

Likewise! I have all these invites and no one to invite.

I actually like the Labels feature better than regular folders. Actually a lot of the features are really nice. And GMail is FAST! Not to mention the 2.5G of space included.

Same here as well, free invites. Also there is software out there somewhere that lets you use the gmail account as a filestore by cutting the files up to 20 meg chunks.

Hey, ya I know what you mean :P I still have about 40 invites. I hope gmail doesnt turn evil with ads and crap, I dont care so much about on page ads, a little banner here and there is acceptable..

Actualy the only reasion there are no ads on gmail yet is because they are still beta testing it. The finished product (free version) will have ads. Then there will be a paid version that does not have ads but has a monthly/yearly fee attached to it.

I think invites should be requested specifically from anyone offering... otherwise the requestor is currently going to receive quite a few invites. Will GMail decrement the number of invites a person has when the invite is sent, or when the invite is actually accepted?

Ok ok, fine... I'm really just being stingy. I just looked at my credit card bill and somehow my cheapness transferred over to GMail invites. Here's one for ya Badguy!

Me too, and they're probably not worth anything, pretty much everyone have 50 invites....
