CVS usage only once per day?

by Aggrippa · in Torque Game Engine · 01/23/2002 (3:34 pm) · 5 replies

Hello.
I'm pretty sure I accidentally downloaded the wrong version (one I already had) today and went back to try and find the correct one. **On a side note 1.1.1 is the version I wanted but only 1.1 is listed, must be the same thing but caused alittle confusion.:)**

Anyway I went back to get version 1.1.1 and cant log in with CVS it gives me the "code 1" instead of 0. Can we only log in and download once per day or somthing?

Thanks
Aggrippa

No, there is no limit to the number of times you can log in. There is a limit on how much you can download from the server, but there's a very specific message for that.

hmmm. Thanks, I'll try the old standby..."Reboot and try again" :)

CVS gives me a message stating I have "exceeded my maximum bandwidth for the day". I've been messing around with this all day so my memory is alittle hazy as to details but I think at most I have downloaded twice (once for 1.1.0 doh! and once for 1.1.1).

You may however have me listed as attempting to log in with CVS MANY times but on my end none of these were successful.

What gives?

Aaron,

Check and follow the directions for downloading the files from CVS exactly. The version 1.1 you are seeing in CVS is NOT what you should try and download - it is some kind of bogus junk that is not compilable. You need to type RELEASE_1_1_1 into the field in order to get the latest version from CVS. If you select the 1.1 you see on the screen instead of tying in the value, you will get a ton of useless files and will use up your download rights without getting anything useful.

Just a tip from somebody who did it a while ago.

I tried to update version 1.1 of the engine to 1.1.1, but WinCVS said that I had used an empty password when logging in, and that I should login with a proper password. Strange, because it didn't give an error message when logging in, and yes, I triple-checked my login name and password.

Then I tried to download the whole engine from beginning just to check that it worked. It started to download normally, so I cancelled it. Then I again tried to update my old version, but again it failed with the same error as before. I thought that I might as well download the whole 1.1.1 engine and hope that it wouldn't break my bandwith limit, but when I tried that, it failed with the same error message as the update.

What is happening here? :)
