Will there be a better D3D implementation?

The Direct3D implementation is, well, very broken. Is there any hope that there will be an implementation that isn't a hack? OpenGL works well--kudos for that--but D3D is a necessary evil on Windows machines (especially for older ones without proper GL drivers), and moreso considering that T2D is built on TGE which tends to cater to an audience with less recent computers.

To be a more widely used engine, TGE really needs better D3D support. I know a real man's engine doesn't need no girly D3D, but TGE should be a sensitive engine in touch with its feminine side and support D3D as well as it supports OpenGL.

The only reason i dont like opengl it's because it's 60 hertz. For that reason alone i'd prefer d3d over opengl. I'm thinking of applying the dx 9 patch resource to my tge.

@Robin: First I've heard of that. Where'd you get that particular piece of information?
