CShop Question

Don't know where else to post this, but it's mapping related, so here goes :)
How do you post at the Cartography Shop boards over on Game Creators? I have registered, but every time I post, the post just evaporates into the ether and is never seen again. The boards are up, as I see others posting, but my posts vanish.
Are the boards heavily moderated or something?

Ok, I figured that was the case. It would be nice if give you a message to that effect when you try to post :)

If you have no modeling experience is cshop so easy to use that you will be able to learn it quickly and efficiently or should I get another program. and if so what program is best for modeling newbs?

Jason: I'm not sure about modeling, as I'm using it for Torque interiors. As far as that goes, it's very simple to get started with. When you combine it with the Torque Pipeline, making .dif files for Torque has never been easier (for me at least). :)
There is a lack of some basic things that most other editors have, like arches, stair creators, etc., but you can make prefabs of your own and use them. There are a couple of things I really miss though: Number one is a 3D clipping brush, which I've used a lot in other editors when making a level as it gives a greater control over a shape and allows things that vertex manipulation alone doesn't.
The other thing I really miss is texture manipulation in the 3D window - unless I haven't found it yet, CShop doesn't support it. You have to click scroll buttons up and down to manipulate a texture. Yes, it works, but for me it's much more intuitive to click and drag a texture around in the 3D window to manipulate it :)
But, after the frustration that is QuArK... well, let's just say I spent a week with QuArK working on a level only to find it introduced some unfixable problem into my level because I clicked and dragged at the wrong place... in just 2 days with CShop I have my level built back to the same place as it was in QuArK, and have gone beyond that point in fact. It's much easier to use in my opinion.

@Rodney - I'm glad you like Cartshop+Pipeline. Cartshop5 has alot of those missing things addressed. It's looking extremely good at this stage and will only get better. If you're interested in checking it out see the lead news item on Leadwerks.

Jason go to Tom's website, www.sickheadgames.com there he has a video where he makes a simple room with portal and some interior lights. It will help you get the basics down. There is also a arch tutorial on this website. Check your forum options under the art section is a CShop area here where you can get help from fellow CShop users.

As far as me saying not moderated...my posts never get approved. They tend to just leave em be. I haven't checked the forum in the last couple of days since my last post but I never saw my posts see the light of day. Pretty much ruins the "dang, I have a problem and I know someone knows the answer. I'll post a question and get a response in 5 minutes....<10 weeks later> Nope, not yet".
Wish they would do something about that.
